It is comparable to Methyl Ethyl Ketone, but has a lower solvency and is more expensive. It is an active solvent for most synthetic resins including acrylics, polyesters, cellulosics, epoxies, vinyls, and alkyds. It occurs naturally in Nicotiana tabacum (Tobacco).
