N-decane is a colorless liquid. Flash point 115 °F. Less dense than water and insoluble in water. Vapors heavier than air. In high concentrations its vapors may be narcotic. Used as a solvent and to make other chemicals.
Decane is often used for industrial purposes. It is referred to as a type of hydrocarbon solvent. This is just a fancy way of saying a liquid substance that contains hydrogen and carbon atoms. This hydrocarbon solvent is commonly used in fuels such as gasoline.
